Arboretum
John Chichester-Constable recently commenced the planting of an Arboretum which reflects the history of Burton Constable. This project will take approximately 10 years to complete and will cover almost 30 acres.
The Arboretum will be open to the public between the hours of 9.00 a.m. & 5 p.m. from the 1st March to the 31st October each year.
It is envisaged that the main skeleton of the avenues will be in place by March 2003.
"I would like to thank my friends and associates who are helping in the creation of the Constable Arboretum.
Inspired by the work of past owners of Burton Constable, notably William Constable (1727-1791), this living representation of the Sciences, Botany and the Arts will, I hope, grow and prosper for all time to remind us that the future and its many changing facets thrive rooted in the past,
Over the years the area will grow to approximately twelve hectares,
a fitting tribute to future generations."
